DescriptionA set of interviews and ethnographic information concerning the Arutani (Uruak) Indigenous group, their history, geographic distribution and language (ISO: atx/Glottocode:arut1244).

Only the materials from the Venezuela fieldwork carried out by Rosés Labrada and Francia Medina are currently archived; materials from the Brazil fieldwork from Chacon are currently being accessioned or processed for deposit with AILLA.

The collection also includes data from Ninam (a.k.a. Shirián; ISO: shb/Glottocode: nina1238). The materials were collected as part of a Jacobs Research Funds group grant to Rosés Labrada and Chacon. Additional funding for Chacon's field trip came from the University of Brasilia.

Interview with Apoto and Makia
Interview with Apoto and Makia to gather linguistic data on Arutani. The session is divided into 3 parts. The first part includes a discussion of informed consent and some short texts by Apoto. The second part of the session includes the first half of the 100-item Swadesh list, supplemented with additional words and phrases. Finally, the third part includes the second half of the 100-item Swadesh list, also supplemented with additional words and phrases., Entrevista con Apoto y Makia para recoger datos lingüísticos sobre el Arutani. Sociolinguistic interview with Sira, Carmesiõ and Taakra
Interview with Sira (Anaria Mujica), Carmesiõ (Carmen Lezama) and Taakra (Maricela García) to discuss the past of the Arutani and Anaria's personal history. During this session, we also elicited the 100-Swadesh list with Sira, based on the one given in Migliazza (1978)., Entrevista sociolingüística con Sira (Anaria Mujica), Carmesiõ (Carmen Lezama) y Taakra (Maricela García) sobre el pasado de los Arutani y sobre la familia de Anaria.
