DescriptionThis video was made in the community of Yulub Max, Chilón municipality. Don Gaspar Silvano comments and at the same time contsructs traps for the vermin that eat up his crops: in the middle of a wire make a circle that later will be introduced into the burrow of the rodent. While doing this, he relates a belief that the wire should not be touched by women because it provokes the vermin so that they will not fall into the trap. Later, in the country, Don Gaspar locates the burrow and starts to see where it comes out so he can identify the right place to raise the trap. In the first seven parts of this video the conversation revolves around the construction of the trap; on distinct points of the country he installs traps with the help of various cuttings, one long one, and a cane leaf, and teh wire which will be the thing that catches the vermin. He will leave that covered with some leaves to keep the rodent from recognizing the trick. Nevertheless, in spite of these precautions, the animal, with the help of his excellent and well-developed sense of smell, may notice the odor of the hands of man and escape the trap in this way, or some other way.
