DescriptionThis video is part of a series of recordings made in Cancuc by Helios Figuerola, a member of this project. In this case the subject is a conversation among four bakers (three of whom are originally from the municipal seat of Cancuc and one is from the municipality of Chamula, a Tzotzil speaker), while they make balls of dough before baking them, as part of the production of bread. manual, one of the four bakers, began interviewing his companions, asking them about various work experiences as bakers. Later they continue talking in an informal manner about various things: the rumor that they want to construct a dam in the valley of Cancuc, about the Zapatistas, about Juan Orteo (mythic hero of Cancuc), about the construction of the highway from San Cristóbal to Palenque, etc. The conversation is interrupted by a lot of noise from the metal trays that they are handling.
