2018 - AILLA Archive-a-thon at Amazonicas 7
AILLA will offer the Archive-a-thon in Ecuador in 2018 in conjunction with Amazonicas 7 as part of the Amazonicas Summer School on June 4, 2018, 8:30-12:00, at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Cumbaya campus, Diego de Robles y Vía Interoceánica, Quito 170157, Ecuador.
At the AILLA Archive-a-thon, attendees will learn how to use AILLA's new self-deposit tool to add media files and metadata to AILLA collections. This training has two parts: a mini-course on how to use of the new self-deposit tool, and a self-deposit practicum where participants practice adding media files and metadata to the AILLA test site. The archive-a-thon is free for Amazonicas Summer School participants.
During the mini-course, participants will get a tour of AILLA’s new website and learn how they can use the self-deposit tool to build and manage their own collections on AILLA. Specifically, they will learn how to add new resources (folders) to an existing AILLA collection, add media files to new or existing resources, set access levels, and add or update metadata. During the self-depositing practicum, participants will practice building their own AILLA collections using either their own media files and metadata or a set of test data that will be provided. Attendees will get hands-on experience in building collections under the supervision of AILLA staff. Attendees must bring their own computer to the practicum.
Participants who wish to add their own collections of media files to the actual AILLA repository must submit additional forms and paperwork to AILLA after the course.
