Therefore, the objective of this article is to study some of the non-configurational traits present in the grammar of NAHTLAX [Nahuatl, Tlaxcala] at the phrase level. Hale (1983:11) proposes that in configurational languages there is a correspondence between the semantic and syntactic structures. However, in a non-configurational language it is impossible to define or demonstrate that lexical or semantic structure is mapped onto a particular syntactic or phrasal structure.
