DescriptionAna Pérez was the daughter of Avelina, one of Gregoria's older sisters. Her father was Mako. She received formal education in Spanish by missionaries up to 4th grade and lived with a North American missionary family from about age 7 to age 11. She was very lively and sociable and had been a central figure collaborating with various researchers. She was the first speaker we recorded during this documentation. She hosted us in her and her son's house and introduced us to various other members of the community. She had become very active with preservation efforts of the traditional land, culture and language of the Yawaranas. The 2015 speaker census compiled by the Yawarana organization reported she was then 56 years old. The community identified her as being a speaker of the Yawarana variant of the Yawarana language.
