Description | This resource contains comparative data on Oto-Manguean languages. This file is divided into three parts: I001 is the first part I002 is the continuation I003 is a phonetic reconstruction Dr. Kaufman began working on the topic of Comparative Oto-Manguean (OM) in 1983. The origins of these compiled data were a graduate seminar called "Linguistic Reconstruction" in which Dr. Kaufman farmed out the different OM languages on his graduate students to work on. These data represent a survey of claims that others made about OM and a summary of what Dr. Kaufman thought was correct. The sources were all books or monographs made from theses and/or the microfilms of theses, all of which came out of the University of Pennsylvania. All of these theses were written by SIL linguists who were supervised by Henry Hoenigswald. These data were never typed up. In the summer of 2010, Dr. Kaufman ran a week-long workshop on OM as part of the Project for the Documentation of the Languages of MesoAmerica (PDLMA). These materials are organized in AILLA by language family. Each of the following resources contains comparative materials on the language family named in the title. OTMA001R001: Comparative Oto-Manguean: Zapotecan languages OTMA001R002: Comparative Oto-Manguean: Oto-pamean languages OTMA001R003: Comparative Oto-Manguean: Popolocan languages OTMA001R004: Comparative Oto-Manguean: Chinantec languages OTMA001R005: Comparative Oto-Manguean: Manguean languages OTMA001R006: Comparative Oto-Manguean: Proto-Oto-Manguean It has several items: OTMA001R006I001: Consonant clusters: Proto-Otomanguean phonemic system, and phonemic correspondences between Proto-Otomanguean and modern Otomanguean languages. OTMA001R006I002: Consonant clusters: phonemic correspondences between proto-Otomanguean and modern Otomanguean languages; consonant alternations; comparative Otomanguean phonology; syllable, lexeme patterns; reconstructible disyllable; some Otomanguean pronouns. OTMA001R006I003: Phonemic changes from Proto-Otomangue to the current Otomanguean languages. |
