Description | A printed map of Caribbean America on which Kaufman hand drew language boundaries and wrote in abbreviations for language names for the languages of Middle America (Mesoamerica). He crossed out the word "Caribbean" in the map title and replaced it with "Languages of Middle" so that the title reads "Languages of Middle America." There is no key for the language abbreviations. In the bottom left corner, Kaufman wrote: Family, Subgroup, and Language Isolate Map of Middle America Time ca 1000-1500 AD T Kaufman 1966 and 1968 The printed map of Caribbean America is from the Goode's Series of Base Maps, map prepared by Henry M.
