DescriptionThis resource contains information on a visit Lynn and Hilaria did with the family of Isaura de los Santos Mendoza who is one the winners of Diosa Centeolt in the year 2006. The competion of diosa Centeolt is a yearly beauty contestant in Oaxaca. There has been three winners of Diosa Centeolt in Panixtlahuaca. There is a conversation with Isaura, her grandmother and grandfather and a traditional dance rehersal that Isaura coordinates with other young people on the ground of the church in Panixtlahuaca.

Our conversation with Isaura and her grandparents range from the use of Chatino language to the violence that exist in this community. Today Isaura and the other young people that hang out with her are getting ready to go dance in Nopala for the festivity for the saint there.
