DescriptionSaila Gonzalo Salcedo was conversing in his home with James Howe when a neighbor arrived to ask him to "admonish" a cup of cacao to be used in a cure for a child who had been scared by a dog. Sr. Salcedo agreed to record the chanted admonishment while he performed it, holding a small cassette recorder in his lap. Afterwards, his wife Adela de Salcedo offered some remarks on the circumstances of the case, which were also recorded. Sr. Salcedo said that he had learned the cacao admonishment (sia unaet) from the late Mateo Brenes, an argar and medicinalist of Niatupu.
