DescriptionIn this recording, a minor chief of the town of Urgandi or Río Sidra, chants in the community house on 17 April 1978, about a personage of Kuna mythology, called Olotualipippiler. The chanter was commonly known as Saila Wartat or "Saila Gordo" - because he was so thin - although his legal name was Antonio López. He appeared together with his wife, in a photograph in the Molas book, published by Parker and Neale (1977); the photograph is also reproduced in Taussig (1993:187.) The spoken interpretation is by an argar or interpreter named Arosemena.
