| Descripción | This video documents how the people of Ejido Emiliano Zapata, municipality of Yajalón (but founded by people originally from Sitalá), perform a prayer in the Calvary, a sacred place in the municipality of Tila. Gildardo Mendoza, collaborator in this project from the same Ejido Emiliano Zapata, acted as contact and obtained permission in advance for this recording on the part of Sebastián Gutiérrez, the principal prayer on this occasion. Permission from the remaining participants was obtained by talking to them at the same time. Only Sebastián Gutiérrez is recorded during the prayer, because he is the principal person charged with it. The prayer consists of three parts. Between each part, there are recordings of interviews and recordings of spontaneous conversation among participants. The recording of the last prayer is interrupted by a technical problem (the camera failed because of the rain and the humidity.) This prayer takes place every year in this place, to ask blessings for the village. Sebastián comments that they made a commitment to perform the prayer for six years and they do it with all the siblings and uncles that live with them in the Ejido Emiliano Zapata. |
