| Description | Ernesto Migliazza’s field notes taken at fazenda Boa Esperança, Roraima, Brazil, in 1960 include the transcription and the Portuguese translation of isolated words, elicited sentences, and three entire texts in Máku: “The opossum and the turtle”, “Bucha and Makunaima” (original title: ”The history of God”), and “The wood stork” (original title: “Story of the river”). Additionally, they contain the transcription and Portuguese translation of the first part of a longer variant of the text “The manioc” gathered in 1950 (original title: "Malóaka") that was also audio recorded in full (file QAA001R003I001). All this material was obtained by Ernesto C. Migliazza from Sinfrônio Magalhães (Kuluta) (ca. 1919-ca. 1999), last speaker of Máku. Another (long) variant of the same text was gathered in 1990 from Sinfrônio Magalhães by Iraguacema Lima Maciel (Iramel Lima) and was published in 2014 as a booklet: Mexoco: lenda máku, Belém, Cromos (available online at http://biblioteca.funai.gov.br/media/pdf/Folheto79/FO-CX-79-4803-2015.PDF) |
