Description | Abstract of the paper: Belmar (1902) gives word lists in Chatino, Zapotec, and Mixtec to demonstrate the Chatino languages' Zapotecan affiliation. The Mixtec words are from San Pedro Tututepec Mixtec and represent a small vocabulary of this language as it was spoken at the beginning of the 20th Century. This paper presents Belmar's transcriptions together with my own interpretations of them in order to make future researchers aware of this source of data and assist in diachronic and comparative studies of the Mixtec languages. |
