DescriptionTerrence Kaufman made these slips from a printed source. According to Kaufman, the words are from 2-3 different Mayan languages. The source is probably Lenguas Indigenas en Centro America en el Siglo XVIII (Leon Fernandez, Costa Rica 1892). The ISO code for Maya is used since this now-extinct language seems to exist only in the 18th century data and appears to be a mixed language. The notes are written in Kaufman's handwriting, and the first page reads, "Subinhá 19 Feb 1789 seems to be a mixture of Tze (Tzeltal) and Toj (Tojolab'al) with some Chj (Chuj) thrown in; spoken in Socoltenango".
