Description | This bundle consist of eleven texts of various themes: 1) Señor Zenaido presents himself and talks about the kind of work people did before, 2) describes the kind of work women did before to earn money, 3) a description of the cultivation of sugarcane and the kinds of sugarcane, 4) how traditional houses were constructed and how the thatched roofs were made sugarcane leaves, 5) an autobiographical note about when Don Zenaido was a musician, 6) an anecdote about the 1950's war in Teotepec, 7) economic changes and the value of money before, 8) reflections about Zenaido's friends that have passed and a bit about the 1950's conflict in the community, 9) describes his family, particularly his brothers, sisters and parents, 10) Don Zenaido gives advice for the youth of today, 11) an anecdote about encountering the Virgin of Santa Lucía and the things that happened to him afterwards. The text was recorded in Don Zenaido's stick built house with a metal laminate roof. We used an Edirol R-09HR hand held field recorder for sound and a Sony HDR-HC9 Mini DV HD Handy cam for the video. Children were playing just outside the front of the house and animals were regularly passing by making animal noises.
