Description | Beginning on Christmas Eve (24 December) and lasting through Epiphany (6 January), men costumed as Grandfathers, Grandmothers, Angels, and a Bull perform humorous rituals in several places in Zinacantan Center, including the Church of Saint Lawrence and the homes of cargoholders. The recording documents their performance in the home of the Second Prefect on New Year's Day in 1966. See Bricker (1973: Chapter 2) for a description of these rituals |
