Description | The Máku numbered about 200 in 1826. Located in the upper Uraricoera River (Territorio Federal de Roraima, Brazil). In 1959 there were only three speakers left (one man Sinfrônio Magalhães, 45, his older sister, 50, and his younger sister Maria Magalhães 35). They lived in the lower Uraricoera River with the Makushi (Carib) in the village of Boqueirão. By 1999 the last Makú speakers had died. |
