Description | This collection contains materials pertaining to Elsa Gomez-Imbert's fieldwork and research on the Tucanoan languages of Colombia, chief among them Barasana and Tatuyo, and to a lesser extent other Indigenous languages of Colombia. Most of these materials were created by Gomez-Imbert during visits to Tucanoan communities along Caño Colorado in Colombia's Amazonas state between 1976 and 1994. Other materials were created by participants in a linguistics workshop held in Mitú, Colombia between 1988 and 1990. A very small amount of materials were created by others and given to Gomez-Imbert. The materials include digitized audio recordings and scanned images of photographs taken by Gomez-Imbert. A collection of negative filmstrips taken by Gomez-Imbert has been digitized and will be added to this collection. All materials in this collection are public. A guide for this collection is available in English and Spanish. The preservation of this collection was supported by the grant PD-260978 Archiving Significant Collections of Endangered Languages: Two Multilingual Regions of Northwest South America from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
